Thanks for visiting my new blog! My name is Jemma Shelton and I have recently started studying at CQU. Thought I would use this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. I am studying a Bachelor of Property part time while working for a valuation firm in Cairns. My main hobbies and interests include horse riding, camping and nature, hanging out with my animals, studying and music/dancing. I currently live in my 1970’s Bedford Bus named Gus while I’m studying university so I can save money and move my house if I need. Im quite a social person so please don’t hesitate to contact me throughout our time studying together! I think Meg’s blog was the stand out number one for me. The design and layout of the blog was very pleasing to the eye and easy to navigate. She included a lot of information about her life in Weipa and I was very inspired by her. She seems to be a very motivated and inspired young person after my own heart. Her online writing skills also seemed very advanced. Well done Meg.

I found Isaacs blog to be one of the best. It was very bright and pleasing to the eye and all of the content appears to be there. It flowed well and was easy to navigate. The style of writing was very clear and easy to understand.

Zhibing’s blogs was one of my favourites because I liked that she included her own photography and was honest about herself. I was very inspired as English is not her first language however, she has demonstrated clear understanding of her company which is an engineering company. I have a similar company and I can tell you now engineering jargon is not very easy to understand, I can’t imagine how hard it would be having English as your second language. For this reason, I rate Zhibing’s blog as one of the best.

My Company – QinetiQ

The company I have been given to research is QinetiQ. Through reading their annual reports I discovered that QinetiQ is large contractor for the defence forces around the world. They are primarily a science and engineering organisation that works researching, training, testing and producing technology for security, aerospace, land, maritime and weapon requirements. I was initially disappointed that I had been given a company that primarily works with defence forces around the world however, the further I got along with the writing of step 3 the more I seemed to enjoy it. I searched on the internet to find information on the company from other sources however could not find much. It was listed as a supplier on the Australian defence force page but had limited information. There was an article from 2016 on the Collier’s International website stating the new location of a Brisbane office which showed me that they are quite established in Australia. Wikipedia claims that QinetiQ is the 52nd largest defence contractor in the world. Links below:
